Initiated from a collective effort to address the COVID-19 pandemic crisis and the fallout for small businesses in our community, the board of the Carmichael Improvement District (CID) is seeking to help by injecting cash into businesses in need through a mini-grant program. Only businesses within the boundaries of the district are eligible to apply, due to the constraints of our funding.

Carmichael’s small businesses are the heart and soul of our community and we don’t want to lose a single one. We know so much more is needed, but this was the most actionable and simple way we could get started.

The CID will award up to three (3) businesses within the CID boundaries with mini-grants of $1,000 each by October 9, 2020. Recipients will also receive a waiver of the one-time application fee to join the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce membership, as an incentive to further engage and benefit from our local business community (valued at $25).

We are opening applications to this mini-grant program on September 11, 2020, with the following rules:

  1. You must be a business owner/operator with a physical location on a commercial property inside the boundaries of the Carmichael Improvement district. Find an interactive map here: http://bit.ly/CIDmap

  2. You may also be a commercial property owner inside the boundaries of the Carmichael Improvement District, paying the PBID assessment to qualify.

  3. You must have fewer than 50 employees, with less than 1 million in annual revenue.

  4. You must be a for-profit business; at this time, we are not opening this to non-profit organizations.

Applications not meeting the criteria will be automatically disqualified.

Selections will be judged by past success, business acumen and enthusiasm, planning, and demonstration of a financial need. We are seeking business and/or property owners who are passionate, creative, and resourceful. We are expecting to read more about your businesses and/or property and feeling creatively inspired ourselves.

By filling out this application you give the Carmichael Improvement District (CID) express consent to use your business, answers, testimony, and images for storytelling and media-related content at our discretion. You will be asked to sign a media release and waiver as needed.

Entries will be accepted from 9/11/20 to 10/1/20. Recipients will be notified by 10/9/20.
